Thames River Adventures

Go kayak, go green, go London

Hampton Court

Starting at Molesey Lock, first built in 1815, passing through the lock. There are also some fine boat houses with small islands.

Along the lock on the Thames, a variety of wildlife including parakeets, Canadian and Egyptian geese, ducks, swans and great crested grebes can be seen.

Around every bend a new sight is visible with more flowers and fauna and gentle acoustics propelling you forward. It really is very relaxing and enjoyable, allowing your mind time to drift along slowly, away from all other pressures and hustle and bustle within the City.

Lunchtime tours are also available, paddling upstream and mooring at a riverside restaurant to eat, before paddling downstream to return to Molesey Lock overlooking Hampton Court Palace.

Regents Canal

The eight mile Regent’s Canal takes its name from the man who commissioned it in 1812: the Prince Regent, who became King George IV. Designed to link the Grand Union Canal with the River Thames at Limehouse basin, its first stretch from Paddington and Little Venice to Camden opened in 1816.  One of the architects involved was the famous John Nash, and he also designed some of the elegant houses which surround the pool.

Most commonly seen creatures along the stretch you travel are: swans, geese, mallards, coots, moorhens, cormorants and tufted ducks – you may also catch a glimpse of a more unusual animal, which is in fact an invasive species: the red-eared terrapins.  At dusk and dawn you may see Daubenton and Pipistrelle bats.

Sunrise & Sunset

A romantic sunrise or sunset paddle on either Regents Canal or Hampton Court is a perfectly calm way to start or finish your day. Once you are on the water you will not regret getting up early for these tours.
It is a magical tour with the sunshine glistening on the still water, allowing you to paddle along a mirror- like water. It is a unique experience enabling you to witness the early morning wildlife.
Sunrise and Sunset Tours start at variable times throughout the season, please confirm times when booking.
